you have a PD only if you are in a pool that has a restriction on the number of GCs that can be issued in one year. if you are exempt, basically you don't have a PD. That is, it is always current. You do wait for them to finish processing your I-485 for which there will always be a processing date, which may or may not be current for you.
Also, please don't give any such ideas to USCIS; they may like this particular idea :D

My lawyer put in a SR on Sept 1. On Sept 11 i recd. the email saying that i was approved. My situation was similar to yours. Same company for 8 years, no RFE - infact no updates on my online status since Sept 2007 when it was first updated to reflect the fact that the application was recd at NSC. So i am assuming that SR triggered review of the application but with USCIS who knows.
Hopefully you will get your approval soon if my case is any indicator (admitted the sample size = 1)

So I am assuming we have a way to track who they are. Why don't we tag them - on the colored button on the top right, saying something like "xxx doesnot want to contribute but has posted 239 messages" and let people decide whether to read or ignore his message.

After speaking to a few people who did an MBA and a couple of MBA consultants I think that most important parts of an MBA are the in-class experiance of working with other folks in the class and the opportunity to build a network. I seriously doubt if online MBAs can provide them.

I am still on H1 (not utilized EAD), the visa on my passport expired last year. Planning to visit India next week, should I be getting a visa stamped or use AP?

AFAIK, logiclife and pappu are just temporarily off IV due to some other priorities and will get back on board with a big bang soon. How do I know? I spoke to pappu recently.

Couldn't disagree more with kaisersose or guns. GC system as it exists is rubbish and ugly in many ways- but as bad as it is that's what's legal and in place now so we have to go thru that and if possible, make it better along the way appealing to the saner elements of the society. Brain drain is tricky - you guys are honest enough to admit to not having it so theres clearly no drain there but other programmers will disagree. Some history lesson's also in order - will do it later. But that's why america needs me - i'm an annoying reminder to its core value(related to immigration) when a section forgets it or finds it inconvenient or abhorrent- and if i were to shed some modesty-and i'm going to-, i'd grandly say i'm here to remind some countrymen about what it means to quintessentially be an American

and one more point, we are never going to get treated with respect and equality, just get used to it. every American knows we left our country to come to his. he is always gonna look down upon us. Immigrants are never treated with love, respect and dignity, no matter which country they go to. Case in point, Bangladeshi and Nepali migrant workers in India. We treat them like dirt back home, so discrimination against immigrants is part of immigration process. hopefully our ABCD offspring's will face less of it

Hi SSA,
Please update us on your I-94 # after you receive your H1B Approval Notice.
I agree that whenever you apply for Transfer/Extension USCIS issues,
the H1B Approval (I-797 Notice) with I-94 # same as the I-94 # you have
submitted along with your H1B Petition.
I haven't received the physical H1B approval notice from my attorney yet so I don't know what's the I-94 # on that one although I doubt it will be the same. AFAIK each I-94 number is unique and different. Anyway, I don't think I-94 number itself matters any, just the fact that you have valid, not expired I-94 is sufficient.
I did not fill the forms for the transfer myself (the attorney did) so I don't know for a fact what he entered in "last manner of entry" but I'm 99.99% sure they must have said "Paroled" as they asked for my I-94 that had "paroled" stamp on it to attach with the petition.
Finally, I did not get any RFE.

Yes a new memo was issued in 2009 (After DHS confirmed that they have worked with FBI to reduce the response time.) Now since FBI claims that 90/95% of the requests are happening within 6 months. DHS/USCIS is not allowing automatic approval of GC is FBI check was the only peice pending and was pending for more than 180 days.
I went to Infopass today, unfortunately service rep on counter was totally uncooperative. She did not tell anything other than my background check is still pending. As per my estimation, it has been pending for more than six months now. I understand that my PD is not current as of yet but, based on recent movement, I hope to have my date current in next couple of months. But, it may not help me much if BC is still pending..
Any suggestions from IV.. What can I do about it? I planning to get in touch with my attorney but, I don't think they can be of much help..

Did it occur to anyone that we are only talking about compensating Aman the $64k he spent already. Imagine if he had made use of that $64k as an investment(let us say a safe investment with minimum returns) of that amount it should have exceeded that $64k value by now.
The least we can do at this moment is to immediately refund Aman and other core team members the amount they have spent towards the administrative costs of IV. Pappu / Logic Life / Other core team members, please let us know what kind of legal/administrative action is required to get this done.
We will immediately start a funding drive towards filling in this shortage from the total IV funds. IMHO on the longer run the smaller funds ($10, $20 etc) should not be neglected.
Let us figure out the required amount and have a new thread started about this. This settlement should be treated with high priority before any other funding drive. Pledging my $200 towards this.

Not a single penny has been reimbursed to him for his trips to DC, food and stay in DC or car rental in DC. He even risked his job and went to DC on unpaid leave at critical times because lobbying was important for getting our work done. We in the core team know this and when we see the kind of contributions we get from members, we feel disappointed that our efforts are not valued. When we started the $20 contributions people felt $20 was too high and wanted $10 per month or less. The kind of work and effort that is needed to push a single provision is phenomenal and needs lot of capital. The more the better. Sometimes reading posts that say IV core is selfish also disappoints us. People do not know the effort that goes in getting anything done. This website is simply a tool for us to communicate to everyone. The big effort is the lobbying work. this seems to be the plan all along. Keeping pushing the ammendments and divert the discussion from the actual issues. A tactic to run down the clock, shows that he is doing something but nothing gets done. Helps the anti immigrants but royally screws us. Same will happen in the House and Senate if this thing moves forward....just venting after watching this snail crawl..god knows why they waste taxpayer money by adding ammendments and wasting everybodies time.

This might sound weired..but I think we can get some support from Housing Market !
Facts:

The housing market is slowing down significantly and there are millions of unsold homes out there.
More than 1/2 million people are stuck in the green card process. I am sure
most are waiting for green card before they buy their house and make longtime commitment.
I think we are a "Frozen" pool of customers for the Housing Market.
500000 H1B X 300000 (average house price) = 150 billion dollar market is just
inaccessible just because of retrogression.
I think we should convince them to help us FINANCIALY

For my situation discussed above, I took an infopass appointmnet at Baltimore and they couldn't offer a concrete answer since the case is pending with TSC. They asked me to reply to RFE asking for extension and provide supporting documents. I'm not sure if that would be accepted and results in denial of I-485.

I am still debating whether to call in or to write - but I will definitely do one of the two. I just read the other thread linked to by 'internet' above & thought I would say a couple of things to the losers at alipac who worship racists like tancredo and lou: Don't distort this thread's message - we not are trying to gag Mr.Lou however much I puke everytime I see him spewing venow on 'aliens' -and I sometimes even admire his constant state of outrage and complete lack of shame.
