Considering Lufthansa took my meal choice of "Vegetarian" to "Hindu Meal", I am not surprised Air France is no different when checking visas.

Yes. You are a citizen of the US. You can live anywhere to collect SS benefits. Currently, if you have contributed 40 credits towards SSN, you can be anywhere in the world at 65 to collect benefits even if you are not a citizen (ofcourse, this is as of today - anything can change in the future).
I do not think this is true.
Is there a link or official proof of this.
You need to personally visit SS office to collect/register. If you are retired in India, how will you do it. You will not spend 1.5 thousand dollars to collect 1 thousand dollars.

I did contribute a small amount of money to IV in the past and i planned to donate yearly the same amount of money.
Am i consider a donor?. if not, is IV going to lobby for everyone in the IV community or just lobby for donors???.
I would like know why IV is NOT considering the onetime donors in the donors list.
By the way i am IV member too and i like the IV for the same good reason as you.

Hi,
We received an "Initial interview notice" for my wife for the pending AOS (Employement Based). The interview is on April 20th in Santa Ana, CA. I am the primary appicant. I have searched this site and outside and gathered some information. I have spoken to my law firm about it briefly. I still have a lot more unanswered questions and appreciate if someone in the same boat can share their experiences -
1. I have not received an interview notice for myself, the primary applicant. My lawyer says I should be expecting one in the next week or so. If I do not get one, will I have to accompany my wife to the interview?
Usually both of you will rcv similar letters and both will go together. You can always take your lawyer with you. It just gives a comfort zone.
2. I asked my lawyer if getting an interview notice is a cause for concern. She replied it is a very normal process. Please share your thoughts.
Very normal and in my opinion good. Why it is good - as when they usually call for interview all the name check etc is done and they just pick random cases for interview. Once the interview is done the decision is made on the case. If you do not have anything wrong with your case then 99.99% it will be approved pending VISA # allocation.
3. I asked her if I will know of a decision (Approved or not) the same day and she said "Yes". Point to note here is my PD is Sep 2005 (EB2-I) which is not current. Please share your thoughts.
Usually a decision is made and if you will ask the IO will tell you verbally that the case is approved or not but if the date for your case is not current you aint going to get the damn card.
4. We had taken our fingerprints in NJ ASC office although we were supposed to go to CA ASC (I was travelling in NJ at the time of FP appointment last year). Later (in 11/08) we got notice that our cases were transferred to NBC and now we received this "Interview Notice". Do you guys think the Interview is related to the FP.
No -it is just routine thing, in the recent times(hard economic time esp for immigrants) it looks like that USCIS has increased such interviews.
5. We have EADs and APs. We have been using them for work and travel. I was told they collect the EADs and APs during the interview from us. How far is it true?
-Dont know about this but I know that they do collect I-94 cards.
6. The notice lists a set of documents that seem pretty standard to me. My lawyer said she will be with my wife on the day of the appt. Is there anything else that you know I should be aware that I may be overlooking? Just to clarify, I do not have any DUI records and misdemeanors. Pretty clean records in all aspects including IRS.
Pretty clean record so just be KOOL and get through this, have all TAX documents for last 3-4 years + pay stub.
They can ask you about your job duties, roles, responsibilites and try to match up with what is on the document they have..........so just prepare for that part. Also they can interview you first and then your wife and ask same/similar questions to both of you.......this is a check to see if your marriage is not fraud or something. Example is asking both people - When did you get married? How did you meet? How long you have been staying together etc.........
Thank you for your time
If you have more questions I probably can help a lil more.........

Guys,
I am working for a small consulting company. The company has it's own lawyer. When my company decided to file for my GC, I was asked to get in touch with the lawyer. The lawyer was very unresponsive - no response to emails or to phone calls. This went on for a month and I was really frustrated. I then contacted the owner of the company and told him that the law firm hired by the company was not efficient and I did not see any benefit in using them for my case. I don't know what happened after that, but the next day I received a call from the lawyer and since then we have been working together. He started the Labor Certification process right away and I was able to file for PERM in 2 1/2 months. Got approved in 3 weeks. Then applied for I-140 within two weeks. Waiting for I-140 approval right now.
I guess the bottom line is you need your let your HR/ company owner know about the lawyer. And if you are persistent enough, they will eventually listen to your grievance and do something about it.

I am still a little confused about this case. To the best of my knowledge visas are stamped directly on the passport. Now if the parents say they forgot the "visa papers" what did they forget? Did they forget the kids passports? Or is the Indian visa a paper seperate from the Indian passport?
On that note, what would happen if an Indian citizen like us, loses his passport on their way back to India? Where will they deport you to? Or like Tom Hanks do you have to spend the rest of your life at airport Terminals? ;)
One point to mention here. When travelling to India, ALWAYS talk in Hindi or the local language of your flight landing (if you know it). Believe me it works all the time and NO one gives you trouble. Once in India show the authorities that you are an Indian through and through. It's a cultural thing guys :)

Yes Sir, I do work in public sector for long time. Nowhere including Govt Office, breaking rule or not following guideline is a justifiable act. And some improvement is better than none. :D I am don't care about 90 or 120 days but USCIS has to follow their own guidelines. If more and more will standup then you will see better results.
For your question for kids, If I can get 1000 kids willing to act together then together we can lift the 500kgs also. :) Take it easy buddy.
my 2 cents.
It is not a question of defeat. If a kid says he can carry 500 kgs, and then fails to do so, that is not my defeat. Our saying and insisting that "it is your problem" is not going to make that happen. USCIS did not make any scientific calculation in determining 90 days. We don't even know why they issued the July bulletin with all "C"s although it has been good for us. People working their are govt people, who can't think logically. Making noise through various means will make some improvement, but not much, as we are noticing. Perhaps you have not worked in a govt office.

H'lo Everyone.
My PD (and my wife's) is 17th JUL 2006; Processing Center was TCS (Texas).
Filed I-485 back in 2007 (when the VB had become current).
I got four (4) emails - first two were "Card Production / Ordered". The second two were "Decision - We have registered the Permanent Resident Status..." (something along those lines.
Online status check shows "Decision" and says "On June 1, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."
Am I greened and all legit, now??? Can't believe it and don't know how I'm feeling - thought I would be on 'cloud-9'...but, just not feeling anything right now!

Thanks for sharing your experience. Unfortunately, this is a fortune 100 company and so they follow corporate procedures and if that includes revoking a 140, that will happen.
Again, my focus is on the legal perspective of this and i am not asking for a solution here yet. I already know that i can transfer my h1 and get my 140 date ported and refile 485.
The question is if i get laid off within 180 days, will my gc continue or will it stop. i am hearing that they cannot revoke 140 as i already have ead.

*** Please this is not directed to one individual. The reply includes me as well as a fellow indian knowingly or unknowing thought along similar lines at some point ***
The biggest block in progress of India is Indian themself. We should atleast acknowledge achievments by certain groups instead of taunting with other issues.
If nothing can win your trust for indians, hope you would trust the American FDA atleast.
I now respect those achievers even more seeing this comment. It just makes me wonder what kind of challenges they would have faced and overcome to be here.
FDA is trying to put pressure on American drug companies to cut cost hence the India card. You have to know what Obama is trying to do is to put pressure on Drug Cos, Insurance Cos, Hospitals, Doctors, to take a hit in their incomes to lower cost of providing subsidized healthcare to uninsured Americans. His healthcare legislation is hanging by a very loose and thin thread and may collapse otherwise leading to his own collapse. So, there is a lot that you don't see or don't want to see.
Regarding Indians hurting themselves, your point is correct to some extent but you have to also note that 70% of the worlds counterfeit drugs are manufactured in India. When you try to hide those facts under the carpet you only hurt yourself because taking counterfeit drugs means jeopardising your own health and export of such drugs will only bring bad name to India. Do not be fooled by this "proud about Indian cos progress" etc This is BS. There are many crooks in India who would love to cheat consumers at the shortest possible notice by faking products. It is well known that in Delhi and Bombay you can easily buy duplicate Sony, Panasonic and pretty much every brand's duplicate product. Go to any electronics shop in Delhi yourself and talk to the shopkeeper he will tell you all. Infact he will give you choices of many duplicate varieties. Can't hide these things from the world because they are known to be facts.
Ranbaxy, the famous Indian drug company was blacklisted by FDA for the same reason. Read below:

Typically USCIS seems to be using RD of 485 once the PD is current for a given set of petitions. My 485(pd July 2003) got approved on July 28, 2007 and my wife's application was received on July 2nd(ND Aug 4, 2007).
In such a case would my wife's petitions retain my PD? If so what would be the order it would be processed in as compared to say someone who has a PD 2006, RD 2007.
Thanks.
I have same question for USCIS
