Production Hyundai Genesis Coupe to get turbo as option
According to John Krafick, Hyundai’s vice president of product development in America, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be available with turbo power when it debuts in the spring of 2009. The turbocharged engine will be the first offered by Hyundai in the U.S.
The turbo option will be available in the 4-cylinder engine that Hyundai is building with its joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe will also be available in a 3.8 liter V6 engine that is estimated to produce more than 300 horsepower. Estimated 0-60 time is said to be less than 6 seconds.
Krafcik said that the turbo option won’t be limited to the Genesis Coupe. “We like the idea of turbo, so we’ll do others,” Krafcik told Automotive News. “I think the timing is good because no one else has a four-cylinder, rear-drive platform with a turbocharger.”
Regarding hybrid and diesels Krafcik said Hyundai has no current plans to offer either. “We’ll get more horsepower and better gas mileage through smaller displacement and direction injection,” he said. “People talk about diesels all of the time, but it’s extremely expensive.”
Hyundai has said that Genesis Coupe and the next-generation Tiburon will be two different models.
“When it hits the market in early 2009, we aim to deliver a driving experience that challenges cars like Infiniti G37, at prices more like Mitsubishi Eclipse,” said Krafcik.

Chip Foose Looking to Build New Duesenberg With Metalcrafters
It's not a done deal, just a what-if scenario fielded by Mr. Foose in an Automotive News piece] Word from Automotive News is that custom-car impresario Chip Foose could be plotting to revive the Duesenberg name — once synonymous with robber-baron luxury — with SoCal concept-car builder Metalcrafters. The plan would be to produce a limited run of 50 of the elaborately appointed luxo-customs — rodded out with open wheels. Buyers will likely have to shell out upward of $299,000 — the price of a Foose Coupe — for said Foosenburg. We're not sure if such a revival would affect alternate plans by Minnesota's own Duesenberg Custom Coach, which has been fielding plans for the new Duesenberg Torpedo Coupe (see image) — powered by a novel, rotating powerplant derived from a firefighting waterpump. Either way, it's good to be a mutton-chomping, multichinned fat cat these days.

The Grand Sport “Soleil de Nuit” features a two-tone paint scheme with the Black Blue Metallic color enriched by mirror shine body parts and trim while the interior is finished in a strong burnt orange shade.
All three cars will be available for delivery to their Middle East owners in the first quarter of 2010 with prices ranging from €1.45 million for the “Sang d’Argent” and €1.55 million for the “Soleil de Nuit”, the Veyron and Grand Sport one-off models, to €1.65 million for the five car “Nocturne” series.
