This, the third generation of Nissan's Z car, gets a bit of a bad rap. Many writers of the day criticized it for being too "soft" and loaded with too many gadgets and features to be a true sports car like its predecessors. Fair enough. Then think of it as a "performance car"... It performed very well.
The third generation Z was the first to use a V6 (earlier Zs had an I6). The modern engine made this car quicker than the car it replaced. The suspension was very similar to the earlier cars, but it was "tweaked" a little differently and the 300ZX out handled them.This car is adult owned and well maintained. It appears to be in remarkable condition. Nissan wasn't building their interiors out of the most durable materials back in the 1980s, but this one looks to have a great interior. Rust was also a problem, but this one appears to be rust free. The engines in these cars run forever, so 100,000 miles is nothing.
If you're looking for flat out performance, the 300ZX Turbo is the car to buy. However, if you're looking for a reliable, fun to drive, easy to keep, everyday car, this car (or one like it) can't be beat.The louvers? That's a matter of personal taste. They've probably been on this car since it was new. Many cars in the 1980s had them. They're period correct. It's your choice. (Someday there will be a museum just for 1980s cars. It will be called the Louver Museum. - Sorry, I couldn't resist.)
