The Fox, for all intents and purposes, put Audi on the map in North America. Introduced in 1973, Audi sold over 140,000 of these cars in the United States during its 6 year run. It spawned the Volkswagen Dasher and every small Audi, right up to today's A4.
By today's Audi standards, the Fox is a pretty simple car. It's 2 wheel drive and has a 1.6 liter 4. The interior is austere, but the dash is well laid out and the seats are comfortable.
This car is an incredible survivor. It's the nicest Audi Fox I have seen in a long, long time.
Like the the owner of the Saab I wrote about in last Saturday's "Quickies", the owner of this car wants to see it go to someone who will appreciate it. He writes; "This vehicle is a collector and needs to remain that way, un-modified. If you are at all thinking that you can hot-rod or modify it, please do not bid. It really must go to someone that will keep it as is. You really have to have a full appreciation for this model and its styling." I love that.
