I habve been here for last 6 years and love everything here unless and until u like to live in places like ny. Im sorry but the standard of living her ein oklahoma is far far far more better for the money spent as compared to bombay or ny. N u here to wrk and earn a better life rite. If luv bombay so much u should have gone back yaar. Oklahoma is great and very close to dallas texas. There are also a lot of desi gujju community here and we do have cricket teams too . Per my subjective calculation, the economic value I am losing by being tied up to my current employer is probably $50,000 per year. It is my fifth year and still the end is remote. So it adds up already $250,000.
According to anti-immigration blogs, your pay checks will not change substantially unless you join a standard company like Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, etc. They claim that H1B's have lowered the pay (in terms of the following post, H1B's have plutoed an engineer) and an employer will always hire a H1B. You will not get a job if you ask for more then H1B. Consider the following scenario (which is similar to stories posted on anti-immigration blogs) after you get your GC.
You ask for an additional 15K i.e. 50 + 15 = 65K. If there is no 50K H1B available, you get the job. If there is a H1B, the employer may consider your experience and give you the job. However, he may think that he will train the 50K H1B and have him on H1B for 3 years.
I have given up on pay raise after GC based on similar experiences with non-standard companies. I am just looking for switching jobs, mantaining status without job, entering country, etc.

In your case, were you checking the USCIS Website for Case Status and Last Updated Timestamp..? Was the last Updated Date was updated matching your Namecheck clearance ..?
In my case, there are no updates since August 23rd, 2007 in the website, do you think they may have processed the name check, without the timestamp being updated.

This is what i interprate from Q5 / Q6 in the recently released USCIS FAQ

The receipt date would be the date received by VSC or CSC and the notice date would be the date recipted by TSC / NSC.

I am assuming here that current employees (both H1B and EADs) are also impacted by this amendment.
Many H1B's currently employed by TARP recepients own a house. This amendment would seriously undermine their financial stability, worst case another foreclosure.
Why would throwing out an immigrant out of his house solve this problem?
Its lame to think that such an amendment would solve foreclosure issues. All it would do is feed more to the fire!
BTW, what do you plan to do with our responses??

Hi Guys,
I joined a fortune 500 company in April 2006 and my offer letter states that
"After one year of satisfactory or above performance, [Comapany Name] will make a determination about sponsorship for permanent residency".
The company made a technology change from Microsoft to Java and I am being told that since I do not have the skills for the new environment they will not sponsor my residency.
Is the company legally bound to sponsor my residency or am I better off looking for new opportunities.

My employer is a constulting company and recently they got H1 approved and got visa also. I got my extension in oct 2008 and did not got my visa stamped as i did not travelled but now my wife and kids travel and they stuck there now.
