Finally Today I received the most waited Email from USCIS that my GC has been approved :D. Has been long 10 years of wait. :o

Sadly, 140 dates have moved backward instead of forward at TSC. Now they are processing July 19, 2007 140's as of April 15. As of March 15, they were processing August 15, 2007. Amazing how these people "work". :confused:

I don't want to scare you or discourage going to India.. but you should keep some sufficient buffers between the time you take for appointments and return back to US. So you should have an appointment immediate after reaching India. These days USCIS is putting all renewal cases to "Administrative Processing" even if you carry all documents and paperwork. This has become a standard procedure for them and probably an underhand tactics (probably following some memo distrubuted by DOL/DOS.. who knows) to dicourage people returning back on H1. Officially they state that administrative processing can take at least 2 weeks to 90 days depending on case. Obviosuly, they are not rejecting cases outright. So far, I know of one instance where a close friend of mine went to Mexico for stamping the renewal of visa. He got slapped with the administrative processing nightmare. He went back to India. He owns a house over here. Fortunately he has Canadian PR and got a job in Toronto. Its already now more than 3 weeks since the admin processing started. He is now planning to withdraw the H1B admin processing and apply for visitor visa so that he can close and settle all his tangible assets here in US and leave US for good. Yes, he was working in a consulting compnay, but he had the client letter.
I would like to see some positive experiences on visa renewals in India, before trying visa renewals in India. Yes your id(cantleaveamerica) sounds funny.. but its ironic and true.

I think you are referring to test cloture vote which happened 2 hours ago. As others said, wait until evening for a final cloture vote as proposed by Harry Reid.

I think it should be tied to contribution also. I am not sure what is needed to access this feature but I am sure there are quite a few of those who are regular contributors but do not have a lot of posts or reputation.

I too get calls like this, i will just cut the call after i know that this is a marketing call. SO let them call several times. No point in being angry with them.
Sometimes they call at odd times.
You are saying we should ignore and let them call over and over again? Does that not bother you if you get multiple calls all the time and the more you ask them to be taken off the list, the more they will call you?
Its like they are jealous of you that you are in USA earning dollars and they are still in India. They take fun in bothering you with phone calls and being rude.
All this behavior is hurting the impression of Indians in America. If they are doing with us, they must be bothering Americans too.

i have been looking for hindi language appointment for my in-laws at new delhi consulate since more than a month now. have spent many sleepless nights but no luck till now.I am thinking of taking an english appt and then letting my in-laws ask for a hindi translator at the time of appointment. they are from a small village and not able to converse in english. has anyone else had this kind of experience (taking english appt and asking for a translator at the time of appt. at new delhi)-pls guide as i am tired of looking for hindi dates-seems like its a never ending search!

Summer time and too many people are applying for the visa and less staffs at the consulate too.

I think in any case CIR should never pass the senate. I laugh now, for all these times, we were waiting for CIR to be introduced, and finally it happened and turned out to be a back stabber.

Came back from India four weeks ago by KLM. It was Delhi - Amsterdam - Detroit flight. At Detroit, I was in the non US citizen line. Immigration officer took my finger prints, did some basic stuff and asked me to go lane 36. That lane was for Advance parole guys. I was the only one using AP. Another five minutes and I was done. I-94 says 1 year of validity. No issues at all either at Delhi, Amsterdam or Detroit airport.
If your I-94 is valid for only one year, does it mean that you need to get it revalidated again as soon as the date is reached?

What justifices TCS to hold Tax Returns from Employees?
I was under the impression that Tax returns are filed by the employee based on his w2 and any refunds can be a direct deposit or a check on name of employee.
How does TCS actually do it?

Just now I finished calling and talking to the U.S. Sen. John Cornyn office. his help there was very helpful and appreciated my calling to his office. He further said that when Sen. John Cornyn introduced this bill, at that time many opponents of this bill used to call and they had to be educated to know the value of the skilled ones....plus he further said that if many calls come favoring this bill then certainly Sen. John Cornyn will feel enogh motivated to bring this bill up again in Jan 2007.

You have to fill out forms but that takes just 5 minutes
In our case we had to wait 1 hour after filling forms to get finger printing done as there were a lot of people for FP at 8 am. Instead of giving people staggered times they gave 8 am to everyone and so even though we got there at 7:50 AM, we had a long line ahead of us.
The finger printing itself took only 5 minutes. Like monkeyman said, dress smart as they take a picture, probably for GC.
Also I saw quite a few people with kids.
We finally got our FP notices and had some questions about process itself.
- Do we have to fill out any forms etc after reaching ASC? Or just the FP notice along with supporting documentation is enough?
- How long does the biometrics capture process itself takes?
- I am in situation where we may end up taking our little kids with us to ASC (they are not part of AOS). My wife and I have appointments one hour apart (0900 and 1000) and was wondering if kids may be permitted inside the bldg or we could take turns with them in parking lot while the other one is inside for appointments. knowing the process times may help us decide how do we handle this.
I am worried that say my wife's inside for her 0900 appointment and I'm waiting with kids and if she's not back by say 0945 - I am considered late for 1000 appointment or something like that.
Any help appreciated.

1. It seems that visa COS from H4 to F1 takes anywhere from 2 months to 6 months, so my chances are 50/50 of getting it approved for Fall 2008. So, is it advisable to seek an F1 visa from India?
2. If I go to India and try to get F1 visa from there, what are my chances of approval considering that my husband is working in US on H1B visa (potential immigrant and all) as he also came on F1 visa and now working here (we have not filed for green card yet).
3. In case my F1 visa got denied in India, can I come back to US on my existing H4 visa and then apply for COS from here or will they revoke my H4 visa in India?

Technically your F1 visa does not need to be in place before you start your classes, except if the funding depends on it .

Well, I also would like to reiterate that rally is a big success. But I felt that there should have been more members. I work for a company in VA and there are many people in the company, but that's only me and my colleague (that I pulled) showed up. Anyway this is just a start and I really appreciate IV for arranging such a successful rally. Go IV go....

Your current salary has nothing to do with ability to pay issue. It looks like your company's tax returns was not good enough and uscis sees that company cannot pay what they state in labor.
Open MTR and borrow sometime and meanwhile jump to another company and start fresh. If your I-140 is approved, you will get 3 years extension.
Ok, I made a mistake. Your I-140 is denied and your H1b is going to be over by June 2008.
