1981 V8 Volvo 262C Bertone - Some Assembly Required

The Volvo 262C Bertone's styling was controversial, to say the least. Bertone didn't seem pleased with their name being attached to it and eventually distanced itself from the car, stating that they only designed the interior and assembled it. On the other hand, if you do a Google search, you'll find all sorts of posts by owners who love the car's styling.

This post isn't about style, however. It's about horsepower.

This 262C Bertone has a Ford 5.0 liter V8 in it.

Putting a V8 in a Volvo is a fairly common swap (it fits very easily in the bay and under the hood), but there are quite a few out there that have been done poorly. This is not one of those.

This car was built by a "professional mechanic with 20 years of experience". He's built V8 Volvos before.

The engine and transmission are in this car, but need to be hooked up. The body was professionally painted and looks great.

With its chopped roof, the 262C Bertone looked somewhat like a hot-rod. With a 5.0 liter V8 in it, it will now perform like one.
