1987 Peugeot 505 STX 5 Speed

Another eBay auction with very little time left on it...

I've written about my love of the Peugeot 505 ad nauseam. I'll spare you this time.

This is a very cool 505. It has the PRV (Peugeot, Renault, Volvo) V6 engine coupled to a 5 speed. Most of these cars came to the US with automatic transmissions.

By the time it was installed in this car, the PRV engine had become an incredibly reliable engine. The engine's early camshaft problems (mainly in Volvos) had been cured. I had one that had well over 200K on it and had never been apart. It's relatively powerful and smooth. It's the same engine found in the DeLorean.

This car is in very nice condition. The seller originally bought it for his daughter to take to college. He did quite a bit of work to it, including a new clutch, new clutch master and slave cylinders, new European headlights and a new heater/AC blower motor.

This car has just 75,000 miles on it. It's in Arizona and has no rust other than some surface rust.

The only downside to owning a 505 these days is finding and paying for parts. Everything has to come from the few specialists left in the US or from Europe. Nothing is cheap.

These are just great cars. It's too bad Peugeot had no clue as to how to market cars in the US. If they had, these would be all over the place and Peugeot would still be doing business here.
