1956 MG Magnette - Project Car

Of all the MG models sold in the US, the Magnette might be the least known. In the 1950s, in the US, MG was all about sports cars. Few people paid attention to these stately sedans when they occasionally graced an MG dealer's showroom.

Not a sports sedan by any stretch of the imagination, the Magnette engine put out between 60 and 68 HP, depending on what year it was built. (This car, having been built in 1956, could have either, as that was the year it changed.) It was luxurious for its time, having leather seats, a walnut dash and standard heat (that was not all that common in the 50s.)

This Magnette is a bit of a mystery. It looks like someone started stripping the paint and the body doesn't look too bad. But, there are no pictures of, or even mention of, the condition of the interior and engine. (The interior could be the biggest problem as the Southern California sun / heat tends to take its toll on leather and wood.) The seller does leave a phone number you can call for more info.

A big thanks to Jon for sending me the link to this car!
