This is a Pontiac concept car. John DeLorean was running Pontiac back in the mid-sixties and he loved performance cars. This car was designed with the full intention of bringing it to the marketplace.
This car was supposedly quicker than the Chevrolet Corvette. That didn't sit well with Chevrolet and General Motors corporate executives. They wanted to keep the Corvette as the company's top performer. (This was something that my dad, who was a GM executive, confirmed. Many times as a kid, I would see pictures of GM concept cars and ask my dad if GM planned to produce them. "Probably not", he'd reply. "It would be better than a Corvette".) In 1966 GM ordered DeLorean to stop work on the car.
Several of these cars were built, but only 2 were runners. This one has a Pontiac straight 6 in it. (Maybe DeLorean felt that by presenting a the car with a 6, he might get past the "it can't be better than a Corvette" rule.) The other car had a V8 in it.
This is being offered for sale by Napoli Classics in Milford, CT. No price is listed, but I suspect you'd be able to buy a very nice house (maybe a small town) for the price of this car.
