1970(ish) Holden Torana GTR-X - Call It Australia's Pontiac Banshee

Australian JaCG reader, Simon, sent me the link to this car after reading the post about the Pontiac Banshee.

This, like the Banshee, was another car GM (who owns Holden) almost brought to production. While the Banshee project was stopped because the car would have been better than GM's own Corvette, the GTR-X project was halted when GM feared that the car wouldn't be better than the then new to Australia Datsun 240Z. (Their performance was similar.) I guess GM felt there was no room for 2 very impressive sports cars in the Australian market.

I love the way this car looks, especially from the rear. Who knows? Had GM built this car - and built some with the steering wheel on the left - they may have been able to import this to the US and had their own 240Z fighter.
