Back then it was pristine. No so today.
It was recently involved in a accident and the the owner has put it up for sale on eBay.
I have no idea how this car got into the US and titled in Virginia. (While it wasn't very good for the military, I believe "don't ask, don't tell" is a great policy when it comes to cars like this.)
This is a 1.4 liter XR. Over the years the 206 came with engines ranging from 1.1 liters to 2.0 liters. The 1.4 XR was the best selling model and generally considered to be the best "all around" 206. It gets great gas mileage and has enough power to get out of its own way.
The seller says it ran great until the accident. He believes that 75% of the damage is cosmetic. In order to make this car safe again it will have to be put on a frame machine, if for no other reason than to double check the condition of the unibody. This is not a repair-it-in-your-garage-on-the-weekend project.
Finding the repair parts needed for this car will be impossible in the US. However, they are available from virtually every country not located in North America.
I'd love to see this car back on the road. It won't be an easy or cheap repair, but I hope someone in the US loves Peugeots enough to take it on.

A number of people sent me the link to this car, including the seller. Thanks to everyone!
