If I were you, then I will do the below:
ASSUMPTION: I have not married and if I know I will get married only after a year or two then,
1. I will apply for AOS now. After six months, invoke AC21 and find a better job.
2. I will stay on EAD until a month before I get married.
3. I will switch to H1 back from EAD through my present employer and get married and bring my wife on h4 and will stay on H1 until my date becomes current. If my wife can get some H1, then I will invoke my EAD etc etc.

I am on EB2 with PD dec 2006 and will be filing for 485 and i140 is pending. Being single and marriage date not sure, i may not got much benifitted by EAD/AP. I still have 3 years of h1b. I work for a non profit organization on IT side ..good thing is very secure and very easy to get GC. Bad part is pay not competativ enough with private companies all though good enough to lead a good life in US.
I have got H1b done from a consultancy and now i am the delema to jump to private company or not as i still have 3 years of H1b. But the very fact that i need to go thru al the process of GC again makes me think twice. The fear fo regretting is making me not to take chance as the 485 dates became current. Also i feel i can alaways think of climbing the career ladder after GC. In brief i am bit confused as i have many options.
I would apprecite if you throw suggestions on this situation.
Although eventually i will take the decsion which is good for me.

Q14: USCIS� July 17, 2007 press release stated that USCIS would accept applications filed not later than August 17, 2007. Does this mean applications delivered on August 17, 2007 will be accepted but those arriving August 18, 2007 will be rejected?

I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout.
If we get more people next time, we may have to look for a different venue.
The biggest positive out of the meeting was that we were able to make the members understand some of the politics involved and why meeting their lawmakers is important. We also got a few great ideas from the members.
I look forward to seeing more action from the New England members!

this event is nearby (for bay area folks, unlike the DC rally) and is on a weekend too. Why are over 40% of responders not planning to attend? Please share your reasons so if there is something that can be changed to improve participation, IV can probably consider that the next time we have a meet or a rally.

On my 7th year extension and need to revalidate my multiple entry visa.
Did you guys hear about rejections for the visa applicants assuming a normal legal status throughout the H1-b period. If there are instances of rejection I would go to Canada which is a boondoggle given we have few vacation days.
They aught to fix this and revalidate the visa within US like the good old days. It is equivalent to going to Canada.

I know this is asked many times in different forums. Person should be physically in united states to file for AOS.

I applied for I-140 with Labor Substitution last week with priority date November 2004 under EB2 category. I beleive I am eligible to file I-485 now. My wife is currently out of USA. I want to know what are the ramifications if I chose not to file I-485 now.
Priority date for EB2 category for India in June was April, 2004. Under ordinary circumstances I was expecting my priority date to be current with in next 1 year. If I chose not to file my I-485 now how long it might take before my priority date becomes current again. Would all the people who file for I-485 now be in front me in the queue? Will that mean all those who apply now have to get their green cards before I can apply for I-485? Or is it that they will get their EADs, but my priority data wont retrogress badly it will become current again in next 1-1/12 years?

I flew NorthWest Arilrines or KLM via Amasterdam( I flew with an expired visa)
My wife was travelling with a new passport ( Previous passport was in the bag) ,she had no visa on it.
You can try Lufthansa via frankfurt(dont require a transit visa)
British Airways ( you require a transit visa)
Air France (you require transit visa)
I dont think returning your old passport really makes a difference( if you have a photo copy of it).
We got stamped in New Delhi Consulate( did not get dates for Mumbai at that time and dates were hard to get during those days ).
We had no issues

1. Is it necessary that one's spouse should apply concurrently? NO (As long as dates are current you dont have to apply concurrently)
2. Can one's spouse (H4) apply for 485 as a follow up to her husband's application in July even if the visa numbers are not available (i.e in August when the visa bulletin says Unavailable)? NO

I don't see any calculator in the above link. My EB3 PD is June 2003. Anyone has a guess when EB3 would reach that date ?
I am planning on filing new EB2 perm application as I lost hope on EB3 (Employer agreed). Though priority date can be ported over, with the backlogs on PERM process, it looks like it might take anywhere from 6 to 18 months for this process. Do you think moving to EB2 is a wise move ?
Is there any chance that EB3 June 2003 PD will be current before the end of this year ? Any thoughts would probably help in making a decision from my side. Thanks.
Barring a miracle in Sep\Oct there is absolutely no chance that Eb3 will reach June 2003. There are greater chances at end of next year but that are also very low.
