Exactly true but hard to beleive. Think how much you know about your home country immigration. That should answer this question. Most of my american colleagues are suprised to hear
1. It is risk to buy house? Why? I am on H1b visa. What is that?
My wife cannot work? WHy? she is on H4? What is that?
I cannot jump companies as my gc is in progress? Why? Will you get your gc in next three months? No.

Here are the few main reasons for retrogression to India and China etc are
1) When H1B quota is 65, 000 the GC visa number is 140, 000 . But when they increased H1B from 65,000 to 195,000 the did not incresed GC visa numbers.
2) There is no country quota in H1B ( other than Chile and one more country for 7,000) visas. So most of the H1b's are issued to few countries like India,China and Philippines. But when we come to GC visa there is country quota.
3) We all know about that ilegal immigrants used some GC numbers which are meant for EB people.
We need to educate the USCIS why and how we are suffering in getting GC.
there is no need and use of blaming Desi companies. I do not support any illegal activities like sale of Labour certifications .

You didn't get my point. I was saying there is no way any user can donate 10$/ month in recurring way..

What I meant is, if someone wants to contribute $60 over 6 months, they can do it rightaway. Just paypal it to donations at immigrationvoice.org, then remember to do it again after 6 months.

Can someone work for company A (with green card pending for 8 years) and start green card process thru other company to port to EB2(part time employment). Can they do that. I mean basically working for two companies until you get your green card, then quit company B and continue working for company A. Did anyone do this? Is this a possible scenario?
Quitting company B right after getting GC would be fraud/misrepresentation.
After getting GC through B, he/she needs to work for B (usually 6 months or so...)

This is applicable when 140 has been approved. If 485 is retrogressed then you will get 3 year extension. If it's current you will get 1 year extension. Guess depends on luck. For e.g if some one has applied for extension in July he/she will now get only 1 year. I found this in a lawyer's chat transcripts.

Very well summarized, recently I took the visitor insurance for my mother-in-law from .org. Before taking the insurance I called them and asked in details about pre-existing conditions and how it works. He told me in very simple words that for people who are aged above 45 plus they consider everything as pre-existing (he says its all because of age factor), any visitor insurance is only good if there is any accident (slipping from staircase, car accident...). so in a nutshell he said they will consider everything as pre-existing for aged people. I argued with him how come if they never have any History of BP and after coming here , if they have BP and sugar, then what? he says it just does not come suddenly, so its pre-existing.. I don't have the answer for him. After researching some more insurance companies, I took from them.

You have summed it up correctly. Comprehensive insurance from a reputed US company/broker like AIG (not TATA-AIG) is the way to go. I had the same for my parents. Luckily, there was no need for us to use it but I know friends who have used it and were not left in soup (it worked as well as it was supposed to work).
Recently, one of my friend's dad came to Texas and got sick and the bill came to $60K. Unfortunatley, he did not buy travelers insurance and is fighting an uphill battle with the hospital.
My parents are coming next month, so I did a detailed research on all the insurance firms, both in India and in USA and I found that most of the ICICI or Tata-AIG plans have limited coverage, which limits the number of days in an ICU or visits by doctors etc.. Even if the plan has a $100K max, the plan may only cover upto $1000 per day for 30 days or so and then there is limitation for ICU and other surgeries. However, if you take a comprehensive coverage, then whatever the expenses, or wherever the charges are incurred, it does not matter. The total amount upto $100K will be covered and it does not limit ICU charges or room charges or doctor visits etc.
The only reason we need an insurance for parents is to cover emergencies, rather than regular doctor visits. Generally, any emergency run 60-70K, so I would recommend a minimum of $100K and do a comprehensive coverage. I have worked with IMG or check this guy at http://www.visitorshealthinsurance.com/
I even called IMG to ensure that this guy is an authorized re-seller/broker for the insurance.
Additionally, I did not find any insurance that covers pre-existing conditions. So just pray that they are healthy during their stay in US.

What I am trying to say is that whether GC takes 1 years or 5years, it is worth the wait IMHO. If I have to do all over again knowing it could take 5-6 years, I will do it. But that's just my personal opinion.

USCIS cannot keep the filing fees if they return your application. They can only keep it if they do accept it and then deny/reject your application.

I disagree with you. Last many H1-B petitions have denied on these grounds. Memo just made the current interpretation as public knowledge. Read the denial cases by and you will see what I am taking about.
It seems that AILA is making noise since this memo is going to hurt the business of their members.

Technically the lawyer is correct. However, it is very difficult to show actual duties and job period for the beneficiary (H-1B worker) without the end-user client letter.
