I have not received any. Generally the notice goes to the employer or the attorney who filed the petition on our behalf. Moreover I have checked with my previous employer. They are suspecting the case got reopened because of the H1B withdrawal petition that was filed sometime back. Things will be clear only after they receive the notice.

USCIS cannot keep the filing fees if they return your application. They can only keep it if they do accept it and then deny/reject your application.

just presenting a possible reason why what paskal proposed in his post does not work well in IV.......its not a question of whether phone calls are important or not....its a question of making a significant number of forum stakeholders (and not 1-2%) get to act on any initiative......fund raising/ calling efforts etc....
i genuinely believe that the core members go above and beyond whats expected to do what they are doing for IV - its truly remarkable...they all have busy lives and it takes great conviction and dedication to take the time out and do this...but why are the people still not responding despite the obvious pitfalls of not acting on GC related initiatives.......
maybe its lethargy, inaction, indifference etc.......but we should be open to considering that just maybe, a vast and silent majority of IVians do not feel a sense of representation in the organization and hence do not react as enthusiastically as they should........legitimacy among the constituents often comes with representation
why did most kingdoms around the world perish and give way to democracies......bcos the kings taxed the public based on their whims and fancies......elected govts may do the same but people still pay up and if they dont agree - they know they have a choice at the next elections.......
and no, i dont deserve to be the CEO - neither do i have a performance track record nor credibility here......should not stop me from voicing a contrarion view though

Nobody here exactly knows why the participation rate is less. Some of reasons could be:
i have my EAD, thats more than enough for me
i am in my I-140 or PERM stage, why should i bother now?
i don't think GC process is a big problem, i am sure i will get one day
i don't care. I will sit and watch others do this for me
I will not blame the core members. I understand their Vision and it aligns with mine. How do you enforce a vision in IV community when the participation is less?
How can any action survive with 100-200 members participation? look at numbersusa and learn from their strengths.
Having said that, i have a few suggestions though. Lets talk to our friends and relativies, understand their concerns/issues and communicate IV's vision to them in a better way and get them to participate.
Lets set some intermediate goals to track our progress.

This can financially drain you out. My insurance agent told me that they cant get the money straight out of your bank account , because how will they find out your bank account number and the bank? How do they know how many bank accounts you have? What if you send money to India before the judgement is entered against you? If you have a house, they can go after your house or car. What about their own insurance policy? Maybe their insurance can also pay as uninsured motorist pay? Retirement income is usually protected in some states and hence I dont think your 401K is at risk. Once your insurance company pays out the maximum, you can basically say hands up, I have given up.

Should I say that all of you those who bought homes and are having a life bought a home with 0% down and interest only loan so that you can save your taxes now and if your GC does not come through in 5 years, you will walk out with out any loss as you made hefty deductions and haven't paid single penny towards the mortgage and simply go to Timbuktu or Krakovia. I will not!.

Thanks for your clarification on whom you considered XYZ because lack of GC has stopped them from buying a home. I had my interview on 22nd Jan at chennai. Counsulate approved my visa and collected my passport . They did not return my passport for 8 days. On enquiry I found passport was under PIMS verification
On ninth day, I got the passport back along with 221g blue form, asking me to submit through dropbox original 797 AND 156-157 forms.
Anyone else has similar experience? How long woule it take after the submission to get my case processed.

I have sent money using icicibank's M2I service . Usually they take 5 working days to remit the money(atleast 8 days to transfer). I made four transactions last week(mon, tue, wed, thu) and they already remitted the money using low conversion rate.
It just took less than three days to remit the money this time. Bank deliberately did this just to steal money from me. I have lost more than 35 paise per dollar and it comes close to Rs 10,000. This is ridiculous and its a big robbery.
How do i get my money back? How do i make a compliant about this bank? They have no one to assist me over the phone.
What to do now?. Rs 10,000 may look too small for us. But how can we let banks to act like a criminals.
Any help/suggestion/comment?

Some IO was just playing around at MySQL database prompt. Just browsing without modifying any data... but it was recorded as LUD.
They were training new IO's and showing them some old applications as examples. And it registered as fresh LUD's.
They were performing data-mining/archiving on some old apps...I say, unless and until you receive a letter from them, just chill and get back to worrying about retrogression :-)

PD provides twoway door, one for new people to apply and other for USCIS to approve pending cases. Having more applications pending (out of PD range) will not help USCIS to approve cases, they need to move the PD forward for more applications to become current and for them to approve some of them.
Most of the people who rushed into July-Aug 2007 where EB3 or EB2 India/China. Since EB3 is closed for the year they have to move the number of EB2 India/China to pick those applciations.
well yeahhhh ... anyways, we will definitely have the numbers moving from now on EB2 and it may retrogress but not beyond April 2004 :)
anyone who opted for CP between april 2004 and june 2006 are the lucky ones if they can get visa appointments ... true ?

akred, Thank you for helping to promote this petition. I think that when we have enough signatures we must also release this letter in parallel to media outlets while we send it to CNN execs. This will make the folks at CNN more answerable to this petition. However in order to do this we require the backing of IV core and utilize their contacts with the media. An individual like you and me can only go so far. Backing of IV core will provide us with maximum traction to evince response from CNN.

I see soft LUD's on all our family (4) I-485 applications today. This is the first LUD I have seen since 11/29/07! My wife got a RFE message. I have to wait for this RFE. I and my kids do not have any RFE messages though.

I'm sure people here dont have that agility and adaptability to adjust in India and China. Though I heard lots of gora are in Hyderabad and other cities that wont be for long term. And without people from India/China IT can't survive here. Much bigger market (than Internet) will be fighting global warming. These guys won't screw their future by doing all these nonsense laws. Let us "C" what happens.
